  Roman’s cook clearly adores taking care of the littles. She bustles around the kitchen, making sure they have everything they need for lunch. Her husband, Weston, helps by doing whatever Evelyn delegates to him, mostly carrying things to and from the table.

  When we returned from the bathroom, the cookie fiasco was completely cleaned up and lunch was about to start. Now, I’m seated at the regular table with Davis and Roman. We’re helping ourselves to what can only be described as the most gourmet of sandwich fixings I’ve ever seen.

  Roman only permitted his cook to fuss over us for a moment before waving her off and telling her we could manage. She has her hands full with the littles.

  The girls are at the smaller table. They have a completely different spread of food. Evelyn has made them sandwiches on regular bread, even cutting off the crusts. She has given them sliced apples and carrots too. Each of them has a sippy cup of milk.

  Roman isn’t looking directly at the smaller table, but he clearly knows Lucy well enough to speak to her without a glance in a harsh voice. “Lucy, drink every drop of your milk before you touch that sandwich, understood?”

  “Yes, Sir,” she groans.

  I look over to see her downing the milk. Afterward, she shudders while she makes a disgusted face.

  “She hates milk,” Roman tells us. “It’s a daily battle.”

  Davis laughs.

  I can’t stop the stupid grin. Every moment of this day should be shocking to me. My jaw should be on the floor and my eyes wide, but I’m educated now. One week’s crash course in age play and I’m sucked in deep. Too deep.

  Roman swallows a bite and glances at us. “If you don’t mind standing outside in the cold, we can let the girls play in the hot tub for a while. I don’t like to make my staff stand out there. They have better things to do.”

  Davis and I both nod.

  “It’s not a problem. I’m impressed by how strict both of you are,” I say.

  Davis shrugs. “It’s not the same for every little. They’re all different. It just so happens that Lucy and Britney are happiest at a rather young age with extremely strict rules and boundaries.”

  Roman chuckles. “I couldn’t have said for sure where Eve might fall in that spectrum since she’s never been in a relationship outside of playing alone or doing a scene, but she seems to be thriving in the same environment as Lucy and Britney today.”

  I glance at her again. She’s licking peanut butter off her thumb. The smile on her face lights up the room. I’ve only known her a week, and it’s been a challenging one, but I’ve never seen her quite this pleased either. She’s so happy here.

  Once again, my chest tightens.

  When I look back, Roman is watching me. His expression is serious. He doesn’t say anything, but I know what he’s thinking. He’s worried. And he should be.

  We’re just finishing our food when the three girls rush toward us.

  The cook is behind them with her hands on her hips. “Slow down, little ones.”

  Lucy ignores her and launches herself at Roman. “Did you ask them, Daddy? Did you ask if they can stay and we can go in the hot tub?”

  He smooths his hand over the top of her head. “Yes, blossom. They can stay. I heated up the water. Take the girls up to your room and find them a swimsuit to borrow.”

  Lucy jumps up and down. “Yay,” she shouts as she grabs both Eve’s and Britney’s hands. “Let’s go.”

  Roman is shaking his head. “Sorry. She gets overly excited when people come over.”

  “No worries at all,” Davis responds. “Britney is delighted.”

  “It’s obvious Eve is too,” I say.

  Roman stands, grabbing his plate and utensils. “Don’t worry about the water being too hot. I set it at about ninety for the girls. Hot enough that they won’t shiver, but not too hot to harm them if they stay in a while.”

  He glances over his shoulder as we follow him with our plates toward the sink. “The three of us might freeze our balls off watching though.”

  Weston is at the counter, and he responds to Roman. “I set the space heater up on the patio for you. It’s nice and warm out there by now. You won’t even need coats.”

  Roman slaps the man on the shoulder. “Bless you.”

  The girls come rushing back into the kitchen moments later.

  Weston sighs. “All this running is going to give my wife a heart attack.”

  I chuckle. Worrying about three grown women running in the house should be comical, but it’s a lifestyle. It’s fascinating on so many levels. And most interesting is that every single person living in this house is part of the age play.

  Eve looks adorable in a pink one-piece swimsuit that has Strawberry Shortcake on the front and a frilly ruffle above her butt. I lift her into my arms and carry her out the door on my hip, not setting her down until we reach the hot tub so her feet don’t get cold on the concrete.

  Once the girls are settled, I grab a seat around the heater with Davis and Roman. We’re close enough to keep an eye on them and far enough to not be heard talking.

  Roman glances every few moments. He’s overprotective. As is his right. Hell, Davis isn’t less attentive himself, and now I know he doesn’t permit Britney to use knives. I decide to ask what that’s all about out of curiosity. I face Davis. “I sense there’s a story behind the no-knife rule in your house?”

  Davis sobers. Shit. This is serious. Not random.

  “You don’t have to tell me.”

  He shakes his head. “No. It’s okay. You met Britney in the same timeframe I did. You know a lot about her story. She wasn’t little when I met her. Or she didn’t know it yet. She had so many signs though, and she quickly let me become a Daddy to her.”

  He glances at her and back at me. “You’ve noticed her hair is very long. She had a traumatic experience as a young child with a foster mother who cut all her hair off when she got lice. She never cut it again and developed a phobia of scissors. Once I learned that story, I forbade her from ever touching knives or scissors. It’s calmer for her to know it’s not permitted. She tends to panic when sharp objects are close to her. Even her adult side does.”

  I swallow. That’s so sad and yet how fortunate for her that she’s found someone who loves her and suits her so well. “You’re a good man, Davis.”

  He smiles at me. “You are too, Colton. I hope you pull your head out of your ass and figure it out soon.”

  I stiffen and look down. “It’s not simple.”

  “But it is.”

  I sigh. His insistence is warranted. He knows I’m going to hurt Eve and myself when this case is over. I’m not sure how he thinks it’s easy though. My job is my life. I’m not trained to do something else. I’m good at undercover work. It’s important to me. Sometimes things don’t go my way, but more often than not, when I solve a crime, I sleep better knowing someone’s life was saved or the course of their existence was improved.

  It’s in my blood to fix what’s wrong. People count on me. People who don’t know me yet or have never met me are counti
ng on me. I could never be so selfish as to throw that away. The guilt would eat at me. Nor would I be so selfish as to drag Eve down into my gutter. She would never be happy, and neither would I. Plus I’d worry about her all the time. She needs a full-time Daddy, not a part-time undercover cop.

  I turn my attention to Eve. She’s giggling and splashing, so carefree and relaxed. A one-eighty from how she was earlier in the week before I encouraged her to be herself.

  I suspect she’s drastically different from before I came into the picture too. She’d been alone with no one guiding her at home. She craved this level of age play; she just didn’t realize it.   Evelyn

  I’m having the best day ever. Hands down. If I totally ignore the reason why we’re here and pretend my life isn’t in danger, that is.

  I’ve never been in my little headspace for this long at a time. Evenings are the longest I’ve ever gone, and even then, I’ve never had an actual Daddy around to take care of me like this.

  Colton is a natural, and I know from the way he looks at me that he’s enjoying our dynamic as much as I am. When he doesn’t know it, I’ve caught him staring at me in awe. As if I’m the special one when really it’s him. He’s so dominant and caring.

  If I could have created a pretend day in my head that was perfect, I wouldn’t have come up with anything as great as this one. Decorating cookies with two friends. Eating lunch with them. Giggling. Being doted on by Lucy’s amazing cook. And now splashing in her hot tub.

  I’m in awe and a bit jealous of Lucy’s life. I’ve always known she lived as a full-time little at home. She works a regular job like me, but when she comes home, she transforms immediately and rarely steps out of her little space.

  She’s young. Four or five most of the time. I know her Daddy guides her to different ages to shake things up, but most often at the club, I see her in this age range. It suits her.

  Britney floats closer and pats my back. “That’s understandable. The unknown future sucks sometimes. Are you worried about the human traffickers?”

  I shrug again. “Sometimes, but I try not to think about that. Did you worry all the time when they were after you?”

  She nods. “I did, but I also knew Daddy would protect me.”

  I furrow my brow. “If the seller is still out there trying to sell me now, why did they give up on you?”

  Britney licks her lips slowly before chewing on the bottom one.

  “You don’t have to tell me,” I add quickly. “I don’t mean to pry.”

  She shakes her head. “No. It’s okay. It’s just a little embarrassing.” She glances down for a moment and then lifts her gaze again. “They sold my virginity.”

  I nod. After a moment I ask, “Why were you embarrassed to tell me you were a virgin?”

  She shrugs, her face flushing. “I don’t know. It’s weird. No one my age is still a virgin.”

  “I was,” Lucy says softly as she wraps an arm around Britney. “Master Roman is my only partner.”

  Britney slowly smiles. “Really?”

  Lucy nods.

  “So, I guess I’m the odd one out in this group,” I offer.

  “Well, you’re thirty. I was twenty-two. I wouldn’t have made it to thirty,” Britney says.

  “I was twenty-two also,” Lucy states.

  “True.” I glance down and drag my hands through the water. “I wish I had a Daddy like you both have,” I mumble. I envy them, and spending time with them like this reminds me that I’m playing house. Colt isn’t really my Daddy. Not forever.

  Emotions well up inside me, and I can feel tears forming. I spin around so that my back is to the men. I don’t want Colt to see me upset. None of this is his fault. He was upfront with me from the beginning. He never offered me more than the few days or weeks it would take to catch the bad guys.

  Nevertheless, it hurts when I think about it. The thought of him leaving and me never seeing him again makes my tummy upset.

  “Do you really think he’ll leave after he catches the bad men?” Britney asks in a soft voice.

  I nod, sucking back my tears. “He has to. It’s his job.”

  Lucy floats closer. “Why can’t he do his job and stay with you?”

  I swallow. “Because he works undercover a lot and doesn’t come home and doesn’t want to do that to someone.”

  “Oh. That does suck.” She covers her mouth and glances at the men. “Oops. Don’t tell Daddy I used a bad word.”

  “It does suck,” Britney mimics. “And don’t tell mine either.”

  They both smile, trying to cheer me up.

  I force a smile back and shake off the sadness. “Tell me more about your life. It’s fascinating. I love your bedroom.” We went to her bedroom to borrow the swimsuits we’re wearing. “Do you sleep in there alone at night?”

  Lucy shakes her head. “Not anymore. I used to when I first moved in with Daddy, but I mostly sleep with him now unless I’ve been particularly naughty or he thinks I need a night alone.”

  I turn toward Britney, curious to learn how full-time littles live. “Where do you sleep?”

  “I sleep in both places. Whatever Daddy says. If he has to stay up late, he puts me in my own room. He also makes me take a nap when we’re at home, and that’s always in my own bed.”

  “I don’t think I want a separate room,” I muse. I’ve never considered having a little room like the two of them have. Mostly because I’ve never even considered having a Daddy in my home at all. My entire apartment can be a little space if I want. If Colt were my Daddy all the time, I’d want to sleep with him. I like snuggling up to him at night. It calms me.

  Lucy shrugs. “Everyone is different. Every relationship is different. You just have to figure out what works for you and go with the flow.”

  We float in the water a bit
longer until Master Roman comes to the edge. “Time to get out, girls. You’re going to be prunes.”

  “Aw, Daddy, already?” Lucy groans.

  “And you, my lovely little cherry blossom, have talked back to me a few too many times today. Unless you want to spend the entire evening standing in a corner after I spank you, I suggest you get out of the hot tub now. It’s time to say goodbye to our guests. They have other things to do today.”

  Lucy climbs out first, but she does so pouting. Britney and I follow. I’m shivering as I walk toward Daddy.

  Lucy’s Daddy removes her swimsuit right away and wraps her in a towel. When I glance at Britney’s Daddy, he’s peeling her suit off too.

  Colton pats me partially dry and seems to take his cue from the other men, pulling the straps down on my suit then bending down to pull it off my feet. I’m shivering when he wraps me up in the towel like a burrito and lifts me onto his knee to hold me close.

  My teeth are chattering, but I warm up fast under the heater and in his arms.

  He kisses my forehead. “Did you have fun in the hot tub, baby?”

  “Yes, Sir. It was the perfect temperature. Not too hot. Not too cold.”

  He hugs me tighter. “Good. I’m glad you enjoyed yourself. You ready to go home?”

  I nod, though I’m sad to end this fun day.

  He sets me on my feet at the same time Master Roman and Master Davis set their littles down, and then he pats my bottom through the towel. “Go change. I think Miss Evelyn put your dress in Lucy’s bathroom.”

  “Yes, Sir.”

  Davis calls out to us as we waddle toward the sliding glass door that leads into the kitchen. “Britney, use the potty before you come back down so you don’t have to go on the way home.”

  “Yes, Sir.”
