  “You threatened him?” She felt uneasy about this.

  He flinched. “He threatened you, Lily.”

  “Right. But jeez. You should have discussed it with me.” She slid from the bed. This time, he let her. Not seeing her own sweatpants nearby, she grabbed one of his T-shirts off the floor and tugged it over her body. It hung to her knees.

  “Lily.” One word. In that tone.
